This is a tutorial i made and posted to a forum a long time ago (i think about the beginning 2008). In here you can find the way i did things. I share this because i'm planing to make a new version of these. Some parts are different, but well, a comparative is coming ;)
Through this tutorial i want to show my way and to give some tips that were very useful for me. I hope this hepls the visitors artists. If you are not an artist, enjoy it anyway :p
So here i go, as before:
STEP 1: The rough sketch.
I usually throw some lines, to get an idea how the characters may look, about positions. This way of drawing changed my life (oh yeah) because i had meet lots of people who have said to me they just go and draw the head first (the most difficult part) and then they make the body. Well, this way allows me to make clear not only pose but proportion as well.
Of course, i made some changes here and there to correct this in the future. Don't be a square! but try to lokk at this point very clear, because it's a bitch (and it has happened to me) when you finish your drawing and well, when you take a good look at it, from a long distance, that leg is turned in a weird way or the arms are too long compared the main body, and making corrections is a reall REALL bitch! :( keep that in mind (i'm talking about experience here, and it happend to me until now).
STEP 2: The advanced sketch.
I always start from the head and the face. I'll always say the face is the most important and difficult part of the body, because for me the drawing come to life with a nice and well-drawn face.
The eyes gives the expressions, as the lips and the eyebrows. You can even draw the eyedrows like if she were mad but if she is smilling... well, that means something different, and the same goes to the mouth. The eyes keeps all things in connection, so give it a nice time to work. I'll always say, if your character has a well drawn face, then the rest is secundary. There is no need to take this words literaly and start to draw heads here and there without anything else, what i mean is that my drawing maybe has errors, bad proportions or a weird pose, but the face makes the character ;)
In this particular bondage drawing you can see the way i work with the ropes. One of the best things i like from female bondage pics is the way the ropes "catch" the body, so i try to make ropes really thight, specially over the breast (it becomes nicely bigger and came up :D ) and the arms.
Same with the crotch rope, make it thight bro' :p
Once it's ready, i take a "far look" to correct errors, because the next step is the most difficult part of the process.
STEP 3: The lines.
My god... how difficult is to make that d#%n line straight. And hey, it must be the same with every single line on the drawing. If you make it tremulous, then you have to draw it again.
As you can see, i try to work in different layers, because this way if i make a mistake, i just have to change one part of the drawing and no others. In this particular drawing, i used a different layer for the ropes, so if i don't like the way i made it, i just edit that layer.
When the lines are done, i love to see it from a distance and say "dude... the hardest part is made... ufffffff".
STEP 4: The painting.
The painting... hhhhhmmmm... it's the most funy part. I love to get to the painting.
Get to the parts and paint with detail. I love her eyes, so i give them extra work.
Once again, i take a good far look to her. Now, you can see that i started with the most bright color on her skin and then i go to the shadows.
Painting the legs is a delight :p
The hair... the most difficult part for painting... of course, that depends about how will you paint it. In my case, a semy-realistic style always demand lo0ts of extra work to get it as the drawing demands. If you use cell shading, it's far easier.
In this case i started from the shadows.
Over it i paint the lights and gives the appearance of hair... yup, you are looking right, every-single-hair-bright :o
It seems to look too bright anyway, so i paint some black over it... but with a brush in low opacity.
I go to the breasts and paint her bikini... yummy.
Go under... there... yummyx2
Again, as before, i take a far look so everything is fine. drawing so close is great but you have to look the entirecomposition. It seems to be obvious but trust me, every time i look at my drawings i find some little thing i want to change.
The background. It's not necesary to draw lines over it but it helps. I started here with the sky.
Then, i made some clouds. A very soft brush, painting the white first then the light blue shadows.
A darker ocean behind everything. I made some lights to give the impression of brights over the waves.
Paiting additional things. A palm tree.
A parasol and some other stuff. The sand behind all the details.
A last far looking and we are done. Now, take a look at the finished work:
Simple to understand, but now you are the next to make a drawing. Enjoy the process ;)
